Public information consists of recorded information in practically any medium that is collected, assembled, or maintained by governmental bodies pursuant to law or ordinance or in connection with the transaction of official business. [Section 552.002]
Access to public information requires a formal request through official channels. Requests by email or fax must be directed to the Texas A&M Public Information Officer to be considered received. Mailed or hand-delivered requests can be directed to anyone, not necessarily the Public Information Officer. A 10-business day clock for response to requests begins when an email/fax is received by the Open Records Office or when the request is delivered to the receiving office.
