INSURANCE SERVICES

If your department needs a quote for insurance, or to enroll in an insurance policy, renew an insurance policy, or cancel an insurance policy, contact [email protected] for assistance.

Available Policies

Content related to the type of insurance you have by default as part of TAMU, and determining your additional insurance policy needs goes here.

Inland Marine Insurance

Texas A&M University participates in an insurance policy that provides coverage for property owned by university departments (including computing equipment, audio-visual equipment, and other property). Here is a list of examples that will assist you in determining which items are eligible for coverage. University departments may elect to enroll in this coverage. The policy provides replacement coverage and has a $2,500 deductible per loss occurrence. The premium for this coverage is $0.13 per $100 of value; this is subject to change in July. The Inland Marine Policy Outline is available for review.

Special Event Insurance

Texas A&M University departments and recognized student organizations have the option to secure general liability and excess accident medical coverage for special events.  Additional information, including policy rates and limits, can be found on the Special Event Policy Outline.

Departments will need to submit a Special Event Request in our Origami Portal to secure this coverage.

Follow the instructions below to submit this request:

  • Click “Origami Portal.”
  • Once the Origami Portal page loads, click the option that says to “Submit a Special Event Insurance Request.”
  • Fill out all the required information on the webpage.
  • Only if applicable, please be sure to check “Yes” on the “COI Needed?” question to ensure that a Certificate of Insurance is generated and can be shared with the vendor as needed.
  • Submit request.

Student organizations can also obtain this coverage by completing the event planning process through the Department of Student Activities.

Special Event Question & Answer

Q: The facility that my organization is renting, is asking for proof of insurance. What do I need to do?

A: We can either provide you with an insurance provisions letter which specifies that TAMU self-funds damages for which we are legally liable. Or, your department can secure our special event insurance which includes both general liability and accident medical coverages. A certificate of insurance may also be issued based on the requirements in the facility use agreement.
